This tutorial shows how to record audio in Ableton Live after setting up your interface. Of course the instructor makes it look easy, but for beginner’s who haven’t recorded themselves yet, they’ll notice every little mistake that they make. Take some time to play around with recording as you progress. There’s a whole world of microphones, preamps, and playing with different recording environments to play with in the future.
Also don’t forget the free tutorials built into Live, especially for getting your audio setup properly. Go to View->Help View from the main menu to see these tutorials. On the last page of the ‘audio hardware’ tutorial, there’s a link to a tutorial for setting up driver error latency compensation correctly. This is essential to setup for recording so that what you record is in time with your existing track.
